Hi, we are thinking to move to Tonbridge or Tunbridge wells, can you please advise if those are nice places to live? Our little one will start reception soon and I want a nice school. Both places looks very green but are there any shops etc around? Thank you for any advise! We are going to look around on Sunday!

Yes there are shops. Tunbridge Wells has a large shopping district and out of town retail parks, and Tonbridge has plenty of amenities but it’s not an exciting place to go shopping.

I live near the castle in Tonbridge. Absolutely love it. There are nicer and less nice areas around of course.
I can walk to a beautiful castle, river, huge recreation field, several other parks, a high street (albeit affected as all high streets have been over the last decade). Oh and a main line train station. Lots of great schools state/private/grammar.

Tunbridge Wells centre is probably nicer and bigger but Tonbridge appears to be becoming more popular from what we see.

this might sound weird but I actually always wanted to live somewhere where you have nice local charity shops where you can find some gems haha

@Mumins I don't wish to offend any other readers 😥 but in general I would suggest to avoid the Longmead area, and the area around Audley Avenue.

You can generally tell the areas to avoid in Tonbridge because the house prices are very reflective of this.
