Rules and hours on 2 years old starting nursery

So I'm new to wales from England. My little girl is currently one and a half. I work part time currently so me and my partner are our childcare as it works out cheaper than nursery.

I was just curious what the rules are as of the time she turns 2 and starting nursery. Will the new rules in England regarding childcare and free hours be the same in wales? My health visitor gave a small bit of information about 2 year olds being allowed to when she asked me if I wanted her in pre school, but she wasn't 100% sure the details. I have no idea also.

So any help on advice would be amazing!

I think you only get free hours at 2 if you're low income. Most families don't get free hours until 3

Even with the new rules coming in, in April 2024? I'm confused if England and wales will be the same regarding 2 year olds getting 15 free hours and then from September it's from 9 months old getting 15 hours free also

Technically, yes.

You would have to find a provider who was offering it though, which could be hard, as the amount given by Gov is far below the value of the hours. Providers don't have to offer it.

If you live in a flying start area you'll get free hours the term after she's 2. If you don't you won't.
