is it legal for 2 adults to take 10 preschoolers on a trip to the park?

is this in keeping with regualtions re adult/ child ratios?

what if one child had an accident and an adult needed to fetch help? thatd leave 1 adult to nine 3-4 yos.

just a bit concerne about a group of perschoolers who regularly use our local park. supervision seems to be lacking, to say the least.

I think it is 1:5....not sure i would want that many though!

I would not be happy if this was my pre-schooler not sure it is illegal though.

Ratio is 1:8, no obligation to have higher ratio's on trips out, however staff must have carried out a full risk assessment demonstrating they have minimised such risks.

So techinically no rules broken unless proper assessment not carried out, might be worth a call to pre-school supervisor to share your concerns, might give them the kick up the bum needed!

Just to add ratio is 1:4 for 2 year olds, so if any of them are under 3, they need to take that into account. And staff need to be qualified to take children out.

In what way is supervision lacking? Is the space enclosed or are they on open parkland?

Presumably they would be equipped with mobiles, not running to the hospital for help?

we had a ratio of 1 to 4. We would not have taken the children out if the ratio had been lower

think 1:5 is more than needed.... it's just a trip to the park!!!

The Ratio is usually 1:8 for 3 year olds. But all the nuseries I have worked at use a higher ratio of1: 4 for 3 year olds and 1:2 for under 3's if they are taken on trips.
