Homeschool themes for four year olds

Hi, we're thinking of trying different topics each week to focus on for our four year old. Something fun whilst being educational.

So for example, space one week, seasons another etc.

Can any of you please give me ideas of specific themes and things we can do to achieve this.

We're working full time so this will mostly be carried out over the weekends.

We don't have a printer but do have an iPad.

I really appreciate your help!

Dinosaurs
Pirates
Insects
Life cycles (frog/butterfly)
Fairy tales
Nursery rhymes
Jungle animals
Arctic
Weather

Could also do things like particular artists or composers - watching or listening to different pieces and comparing in a basic way, copying pictures etc

I look after a six year old and a four year old, and I asked them if they had a chance to learn about anything at all in the world what would they like to learn about, I sort of prompted a bit by suggesting maybe an animal or country etc, we now have a nice list to keep us busy including for example, crocodiles and rugby.
I thought they might engage a bit more with home learning if we were doing a topic they were really interested in. It's also a fantastic opportunity to give them some autonomy over choosing what they learn about, which they wouldn't normally get in school at this age.

The idea about listening to or looking at different artists is perfect. So many of the suggestions I saw online involved a lot of printing or using materials we don't have, but this is definitely something we can do. Thank you!

The 5 senses theme:
Blindfold tasting/smelling/touching game
Sorting foods into sweet vs salty vs sour
Texture scavenger hunt - something smooth, soft, rough, spikey, slimy, bumpy etc...
Sound matching games

Excellent, love these ideas! My young one is only 2.5 but will be adapting some. We’d luckily just bought a tuff tray thing a few weeks ago, but we are saving that for rainy days for now

Forgot to say with the music idea - good to combine that with art too, and see if they can draw/paint/collage “what the music makes you think of”. You could start by doing Carnival of the Animals for example - pretty sure there are decent versions on YouTube with some visuals to show the animals represented - and then move on to any random music, I bet you’d be surprised and very amused at what they imagine :o

If you have a garden or go on a little walk could you collect a few leaves? Or see how many insects you can spot or different birds maybe?

So far we've done insects (including bug hunt in garden) and plants (including growing veg).

Next week we're going to do birds, plans so far are put up a bird box, make our own fat balls and keep a photo diary of birds on the feeder. Will probably find a bird related craft (maybe a mobile?) And print some work sheets of twinkle.

After that Easter, then maybe spring/ seasons but haven't planned anything that far ahead.

Ooh yes leaf rubbing would be good, you can do that with crayons can’t you? I think I’m going to make the toddler a headband that she can glue leaves on
