Anxiety 3 1/2 year old

Hello!

This is my first post!!

Wonder if any one could give me any happy success stories?!?! my son is very anxious. When he is with other children he doesn't know he is very nervous of them (he will look over his shoulder almost to check that they won't attack him or something). When he is with children he does know if he is with them on a one to one basis he is fine but if there are lots of them he won't join in.

He has always been around children but the more he seems them the worst he becomes! he is starting another pre-school next week as he attended one for 6 months and became worse still.

Help! what can I do?

Can't really offer advice as such but, my dd was exactly like this at this age (very clingy aswell). She did the crying thing at pre school for about a week and then I sat her down and asked her why she cried, she said she didn't know, I asked her if it was because she was worried that I wouldn't be there to pick her up and she said yes. I told her I would always be there to pick her up. After which she was fine, it helped that the pre school were really good with her and by the time she left to go to the school feeder nursery, she was much more confident.
Try not to get too rattled or pass your anxiety on and be very sure that you have faith in the pre school, this way you'll feel confident about leaving him.
