DD is 3 during December 2008 - so when do I formally apply for her place at nursery? Somebody mentioned a year in advance???!!!

Also at the moment DD is at a day nursery as I work FT. I am in two minds about keep her at this nursery or placing her in the nursery which is attached to the local Primary School, when she is 3. I really want her to go to our local Primary school, but do you think her chances of getting into the Primary School might be hindered if she did not attend thier nursery school?

Theoretically there is no advantage given to children attending a nursery when allocating Recpetion places. If it falls in line with the school applications you will probably apply in the preceding Autumn term or just after Christmas, however whether this year or next depends on whether she can start in January 2009 or if she has to wait until the next September. Your LEA website should say or call the nursery in question. They probably don't automatically notify you as they would for Reception entry
