Wetherby Waiting List - what are the chances of getting in?

Hi All - our DS was born at the end of Nov-18. We registered him within two weeks of his birth at Wetherby (with a view to send him to Little Wetherby first and then Wetherby Prep) and were told that we are on the waiting list and did not get a definite place. Before paying the £150 waiting list fee (which is strange, considering that even kids who get a definite place pay the same £150 to confirm their places) I just wanted to get people's perspectives on the chances of getting in.

Well the chances are better that what most would say. My recommendation would be to apply to both Wetherby schools; the NH one and the Kensington branch. This will double your chances. Also the transient nature of this area means that waiting lists move quickly.

I would just make sure that you are calling the registrar regularly and asking if there has been any movement. I would also ask friends who have children attending the school to send letters of recommendation for your family.

If nothing happens now then things will definitely shift in the year of entry as most parents have multiple offers and ultimately they have to choose one school.

Have you also applied to other schools?
