My dd 3 on halloween!! Hasnt napped for about 6mths!!

How long is she going for? My ds went to a private preschool and they did not have nap time or any beds as his nursery did. Because they were there all day thoufg they did have a quiet area with bean bags and some kids would nod off and they left them to snooze.

how old is she?
some kids are at 'preschool' at 2 or 3 or 4

mine started preschool just turned 3, for 3 mornings a week and she occasionally had naps until the summer term

OhNo40 · 25/06/2007 12:26

I guess it depends on the times she goes, how long she spends there and how much it tires her out.
Our DD has just moved to the pre-school class in her nursery. Although most children in her class don't nap we have asked for them to let her have one as without it she is horrendous when we get home. We found that dropping the nap completely at the same time as she moved up a class was just too much.
Some parents reduced their children's napping time in the lead up to the change of class, but as DD was still sleeping for a minimum of 1hr a day (sometimes up to 2) we felt she needed to keep it on.

My dd1 is 3.5 and is fast asleep as I type! She probably has a nap every 3 days or so now but up until about 3 months ago she had a good 2 hrs every day. Ahh...bliss

Biglips · 25/06/2007 12:27

she will be going 5 mornings a week 9 - 12pm

wow laney...there are kids that dont need their naps anymore but mine does atm as she gets all ratty and droopy

Is she going to preschool all day? If she's only going in the mornings then she might want to continue her naps for a while.

My ds might be starting Montessori in January when he will be 3.6 yrs and they have beds for the children that still need a nap after lunch.

mine's 3 as of yesterday and only naps now on weekends if we're out and about driving around noon and 1pm! he hasnt napped at home in weeks.

WigWamBam · 25/06/2007 12:30

Dd dropped all her naps at about 18 months, so we didn't have this issue. But it looks as if the answer is for your dd to have a nap when she comes back from pre-school.

Maybe she'll surprise you and be OK without a nap at all, though.

Biglips · 25/06/2007 12:30

right...so ill just reduce it if needed or maybe by then she'll stop having them
