When do I apply for school nursery in UK?

My son was born in February 2017. When do I apply for a school nursery place for him? I've seen conflicting information and the internet is now confusing me. I can't seem to attach photos but I believe he should be starting school in September 2020 (unless I choose and find a nursery that will take him in April 2020).
I was thinking of calling my local borough but thought I would ask here first.
Thanks in advanceSmile

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Depends if you qualify for 2 year funding where they would get a place from the term after they are 2. Otherwise funding is from the term after they turn 3. Check your council website for when you should apply

Would he not start school when he is 4 which would be 2021

If it helps my DD was born feb 2016 and will be going to nursery school next September (2019) and starting full time school 2020.

I think your DS would be the year below her so nursery school available from Easter 2020 and full time September 2021.

I've also been told by the school I want her to go to that for the nursery I just have to apply through the school and go in their waiting list. Rather than through the online LA system for full time.

Unlike reception class applying for nursery varies greatly depending on where you live.

In my area children start nursery the September after they turn 3 and applications are dealt with centrally by the local authority.

Thanks for all of your advice. I'll repost once I get info from my local council.
