What is exspected of a 3.5 year old in nursery? With learning, following instructions, friendships. And just in general?

If they can share, put on shoes and go to the toilet without help, that would be excellent. Anything else is a bonus. Hold a pencil, or cut with scissors, zip up a coat, recognise their name and maybe write it, feed themselves and drink from an open cup.

You could ask the nursery if anything would be helpful.

Google the Early Years Foundation Stage. There are targets by age band although development is rarely even across all areas.

What to expect when is another helpful guide if you want to download that.

Is there a problem with nursery?

Not being rude, but if you have to raise this on an online message board instead of simply asking your nursery, then it strikes me the communication and/or trust isn’t what it should be.

@itsaboojum There is no problem with nursery. I was just asking for my own personal reasons. Not because there is a problem with nusery.

My sibs nursery expected children to be self feeding, self dressing, self toileting. And able to sit still and quite for about 15 minutes, follow instructions, share, not hit, not knock things over etc. Obviously all the children fell short of the mark every now and then but that was what they expected as a general level of behaviour.
