Any tips for first day at nursery?

My DS is 3 and has his first afternoon at nursery tomorrow. I tried to put him in daycare last year but after 2 very upset weeks both I and the daycare workers agreed he wasn't ready.

He didn't settle on his own when we went for the open day before the summer but played great when I was there, he says he's excited to start tomorrow, we've been talking about it for ages and he seems to understand that I'll be leaving this time and coming back to get him after a short time.

I've set his uniform out for him (he was excited buying it all) and I've just found it all screwed up behind the door. Although he says the reason he did it was he was playing at Spider-Man and he was the bad guy at the time.

He's been really really acting up all day, even hurting his little brother 3 or 4 times which is not like him at all! I'm thinking it might be something to do with anxiety over knowing tomorrow is the big day.

Any tips to make the transition smoother tomorrow? He doesn't go til 12:30 so we've got a whole morning at home first?

Don't talk about it too much in the morning. Maybe leave your scarf or cardigan or something on his peg, so it's clear you're coming back for it later.

Bright and breezy drop off, kiss, smile and "see you later, have fun" then leave.
