Hi all,

We just found out that we are expecting a baby in Jan so will very soon need a bigger place (currently living in a flat)

We are looking at north London area, do you have any advice of schools to look at? We probably can afford private schools, but who knows what happens to our jobs in the future and would love to have peace of mind of good states school choices as well.

What's the best strategy to adopt here?

Also, I heard with some schools, you need to register the interest before the baby is born, is this true?! Sorry I'm not from here and the UK edu system is alien to me.

Many thanks!!

Get out of North London and take the chance to move to SW London. The primary school entrance situation in N London is just crazy. Buy a house in the Richmond Borough in a neighbourhood that suits your budget (or Chiswick, Hampton, Wimbledon, even Putney and Wandsworth), research schools, whether state or private thoroughly for catchment areas and/or registration. 4+ assessments are unheard of in SWL, also same to say for 7+ except for the highly regarded London boy schools. There are more good primary school choices, both state and private.

Having seen lots of friend living in N and SW London, that would be my honest advice! PM me if you would like to hear more. All the best.
