Try this

It's the Children's Information Service for your area. If you contact them, they will be alble to send you a pack with all the info you need on private childcare and nurseries attached to schools (and whatever else you ask them for)

Your council website should have a list. Look under Early Years.

oh thank you!!

there are 2 local to me, one is the one dd2 went to

going to call the other one to get dd3 name down for april.

I take it you weren't very happy with the other one then!

Very wise to get their name down early - I've only just put my DD name down for September. I was panicking in case they'd run out of room!

misdee · 08/05/2007 23:35

not happy. they said they thought my dd2 was autistic, so i got her referred to CDC (to be honest dd2 is a bit eccentric) but they wrote to CDC to say they have no concerns at all

not going through all that again.

oh its best to get names down early here, in theory she could already be at pre-school as we are on benefits but i think she is far too young, would like to try for next april after she turns 3.

IMO, people are way too quick to diagnose children with allsorts nowadays. Most of the time there's nothing wrong with them!

I don't get why they told CDC that they have no concerns after telling you that they did... What were they doing?!

Oh well, I hope you have more luck with the other one

misdee · 08/05/2007 23:43

i know. it drove me mad. dd2 does have soeech and some behaviour issues, and is rather wild (in a nice way, not a naughty way).

she also didnt talk to anyone there for over 6 weeks.

i know dd3 is NT, so no worries there but stil lget so angry at the other pre-school over it, i wouldnt be able to go there with dd3 as would worry again.

OP posts:
butterflywings · 08/05/2007 23:52

Yeah, I'd be angry too. All those people gossiping and making assumptions about your child...

I take it DD2 is out of the pre-school now and at 'proper' school?

misdee · 08/05/2007 23:54

she is at nursery now. starts school in sept.

she sees SALT in the holidays and has extra SALT at nursery as well. But the nursery have made no murmurs of autism in the 8months she has been there.

OP posts:
misdee · 08/05/2007 23:55

oh i dont mind them gossiping and making assumptions, i know she has issues, but why mention autism to me then say no concerns to CDC.

OP posts:
butterflywings · 09/05/2007 00:00

That's good to hear

Sounds like they're much better, with having extra SALT at nursery and everything.

butterflywings · 09/05/2007 00:01

Yeah, I don't get that either..

Maybe they weren't being too serious about it and got embarrassed when they found out you'd spoken to CDC?

misdee · 09/05/2007 00:02

its a great nursery for SN, and although she isnt in the enrichment group, she does get extra help. and its 10min walk away and right next door to dd1 school.

OP posts:
butterflywings · 09/05/2007 00:03

WOW - sounds perfect!

I'd hate to have to go all over the place to send lots of kids to different nurseries/schools!

misdee · 09/05/2007 00:05

the nursery is in the process of being turned into a childrens centre, and there are rumours of a pre-school being on there as well, but havent heard anything concrete, so want to get dd3 name down in case it is just a rumour.

OP posts:
butterflywings · 09/05/2007 00:08

Yeah, good plan.

You can ask them what's going on when you put her name down - they'll be able to tell you exactly what's happening to the place and how it will affect the children that carry on going there
