Can private schools penalise kids for having epilepsy ot add

Do you think a private preschool/school can penalise your child aged 3/4 for possibly having epilepsy or ahdh (nothing diagnosed or confirmed). By penalise I mean them politely saying your child can't go further in their school (it's a 4-18 years school).

It’s hit but if it’s a popular school then they have no reason to keep any child there that they don’t want. My ds has asd, we’ve looked at 2 private schools and both made it abundantly clear he wasn’t welcome.

It's up to the school to decide who to accept into the main school. Sadly, that often means that children with additional needs will not be offered a place. I have to be honest, if my child had additional needs, I would almost certainly prefer them to go to a state school as the provision is generally better.

Yes they can decide that a child is unsuitable or they cannot meet their needs at any point.

Yes they can and do.

They can do what they like.

But, there are plenty of wonderful private schools with an inclusive policy happy to take all manner of children.

Sadly a whole lot of them do, regularly, ask parents to take their children elsewhere if they have additional needs

They do and I get the any anger and frustration you may feel, but trust me you wont want to keep your child there if you have fought them tooth and nail for the place. We had a lucky near miss where we thought we should fight them but instead moved on, the head basically told us the above.
As others have said there are some wonderful inclusive warm independent schools out there.

It just depends on the school. Ours is inclusive and they seem to manage things pretty well, including extra support where needed.

Yes they can and do and frankly sometimes you should be grateful for the honesty as your child will do better somewhere else .
