How much is the grant for preschoolers?

DD will be attending preschool in September. She also goes to nursery 2 full days a week. I wanted to know how much of a refund I will get when she gets her grant? The first 4 sessions will be claimed by nursery and the other session will be claimed by preschool and I will pay for the 2nd session there.

I cant find any clues on line. Can anyone tell me?

Thanks

£8.13 per session.

brimfull · 14/03/2007 22:01

I think it is £8.30 ish /session

Clayhead · 14/03/2007 22:02

£8.41 per session round here

Beabea · 14/03/2007 22:04

Thanks. Is that all and what an odd number! Also one session is only £6.50 I guess I won't get the £1.63

So it looks like depends on the area you live in.

Beabea, that is an interesting point you've made. dd's sessions are £5 each, but I assume that they get the whole £8.13 as its a set rate, according to where you live.

brimfull · 14/03/2007 22:45

Ds's preschool gets £5.40 from paretns of under 3's and £8.30(may be 13?) for children on the grant.

How old is your DD? The Government grant applies from the term AFTER their 3rd birthday.

Annoying, all my DCs have birthdays near the beginning of a term so I still have to pay until the following term starts. Grrr!

I thought it was 2 1/2 hours at whatever rate the nursery/preschool charges.

So for example DD3 goes to an expensive nursery for a 5hr session. I only get charged for half of that session.

A friends DD goes to a less expnsive preschool for 2 1/2 hours and doesn't pay anything.

SlightlyMadScientist · 17/03/2007 23:00

Hang on - I have just checked my councils web-site and it is £7.56 per session. Ii honestly thought it depended on the prices chrged by the institution...or thats what they had lead me to believe. Maybe it just happens to be about half of what I pay for a 5hr session...

I see - so if my nursery fees actually worked out at £8.50 for the equivalent of 2 1/2 hours they can't charge me the 94p they loose out on - they have to absorb the cost???

So if I take a 30 min drive I could get double the free nursery time???? Thats not fair....
