Biglips, you have stacks of time between now and October - nothing to get worried about just yet. Nine months makes a huge amount of difference. She'll be 3 then, and will probably be more than ready for using the toilet by then.

Relax ... don't even think about it yet.

Biglips · 26/01/2007 11:22

oh ok then i suppose!

wait til the summer, its so much easier, she can run round the garden bare bummed, and then after a week be toilet trained

plus you can get things dried outside in a few hrs, like pants, sheets etc

she will be outside more therefore wont pee on the carpet, itll be the grass instead!

My dts had just turned 3 when they started pre-school, they were only potty trained the month before, they have been going for just 3 weeks now, but no accidents as yet. 9 months is plenty of time, good luck

sunnysideup · 26/01/2007 11:25

yup, wait till the summer...the longer you wait the easier it is.

And anyway it's illegal apparently now for childcare settings to not accept non toilet trained children.

There's no deadline. Just go at her own pace.

kittypants · 26/01/2007 11:26

will she be 3 when she starts?because when i worked in childcare we said prefer to be potty trained but if not be law we still had to take them.childrens act states everychilds right to education but doesnt mention nappies.so try not to worry too much, although october is long time away.if you rush your lo,she'll never get it.

Biglips · 26/01/2007 11:28

yes she will be starting in September - a month before she turns 3.....

agree with waiting til the summer. DS2 more or less trained himself last summer when he was 2.9

adath · 26/01/2007 21:51

They cannot refuse to take her in nappies but you have loads of time.
DD was 3 in October and we were doing kind of part time training too she was in nappies out but pants in the house she was totally potty trained over the christmas holidays started on the 8th and not an acciddent yet.
( months is loads of time especially if she is going sometimes.
