missing the deadline for 3yrs 15hrs funding?

Agh! DS3 is registered to start nursery this month but DS1 was in hospital all of Dec right up until Christmas Eve when we had to leave for holiday, I missed the letter asking me to fill in forms for his 3yr funding and it was meant to be back 14th December!!!
I've filled them in now and if I go into the nursery Monday in person and explain what happened will they still be able to claim the funding or have I missed it now for good?

Also, he's only at the nursery 9hrs a week, if I can still get the funding can I split it with the childminder he goes too for the other 6hrs?

It depends on how full they are and their policies. Iirc you have until 'head count day' for the setting to declare numbers etc which is a few weeks in. They may need time for planning etc to fit everyone in if they are very popular though.

Yes you can split it across settings, we did this. But you might have missed the deadline for next term. It won't be up to the nursery, it'll be the council, so it really depends what rules they have. You won't have missed it for good, if you can't claim it for this term then you will be able to for next term.

In our area you can choose how you split your time between settings - it doesn't have to be even or pro rata.

In our area you'd be fine if you got the form in the first day back. As othes have said, if you've missed it for the term, it'll only be for the term.

Fingers crossed I make it in time to get in this term then, it is really popular hence why I could on,y get him in for 9hrs a week but I'll see what they say and if needs be find a way to fund it until next term. Thanks.

Most Local Authorities have a "head count week" as tilder mentioned. I think the headcount week in my LA is the end of the 2nd or 3rd week of term.

In my nursery, we haven't even asked parents to fill in the funding form yet (it will be done next week), so you definitely wouldn't be too late for us!

Yes, you may be able to split your funding, but it depends whether your childminder is registered to accept the funding.
