Hi there - did you find out any more about charitable incorporated associations???? I am keen to find out!

Oooh no not yet...but what this space. Our Playgroup leader knows someone in the know and is having a meeting with her about it soon.
I frightened the heck out of our main committee members when i told them how we weren't covered by any insurance should the playgroup fold and that we would be liable...(and i was trying to be subtle too, in fear of a mass exodus!)
I am interested to find out what you lose by becoming a C.I.O...there has got to be drawbacks haven't there? I don't even know when the legislation comes into force or anything..or if it's been put on a back burner or something. It's hard to find much about it tbh. There are a few papers on the PLA website but nowt much else.
I'll let you know what i find out anyway!

Great, thanks. I know the drawback previously in becoming a 'normal company' was the hassle in producing accounts and distributing shares etc. We were advised ages ago to have 3 months-worth of staff salaries in our reserve account in case of redundancies (which we are working towards!)
