Should I send my toddler to school now and change later?

Hi,

I am in doubt as what to do and would appreciate some help on the below:

My daughter is born is Oct 2012. There is a school A which is bit away from my home and another school B which is just few lanes away. School A takes in kid from 3 years of age (and charges some nominal amount). Whilst school B follows standard criteria, which means I will be able to send my kid only by 2017. I prefer school B as it is near. But can I do this --> send my daughter for 2 years to school A and then change it to school B? Will it be allowed?

Thanks

is it a school or nursery? Are you in the UK?

what hours would be done at School A? - you normally get 15 hours free nursery education from the term after they turn 3

Yes am in the UK. and the free hours will be included and for additional hours I will pay for it.

But my question is can I change school after 2 years?

I don't see why not as the nursery they go to does not normally affect the school they can attend. Do you mean School B does not have a pre-school but is a stand alone school?

dementedpixie · 14/01/2015 12:49

p.s. my dd went to a nursery that wasn't attached to a school and then went to her catchment school.

Are they both state schools? If so, being in the preschool of school A doesn't make any difference to admissions for the actual school years.

School A is proper school & not nursery, and has pre-school in it. Hence the 3 year admission is on. The school B does not have pre-school.

yes it is fine to go to one nursery and then go to a different school when of school age.

School admissions are totally separate from nursery/pre-school admissions. It's extremely common for a child to attend a pre-school but go to a different schools for Reception.
