Nursery day trips..Am i worrying unnecessarily?

My 2.5 year old dd will start nursery this september, for 3 hours a day.
We recently had our home visit from them and were told that they take the children out on trips locally, to the park, library, etc. Sometimes a little further than local to pick your own fruit places, farms etc.
Obviously i had to give written permission for this, and while i think it's great that they take them on trips and outings, i am worrying like mad about her safety on these trips.
She walks everywhere really well with me when we go out but with her walking reins on. I'm driving myself crazy imagining the worst case scenarios of when she is out on trips with the nursery...like crossing roads, or getting lost etc...
She is only 2.5 and i know i'm over reacting but i can't help it! has anyone else's dc started nursery this young and gone out on trips?
I need some reassurance as my ds's didnt start nursery until they were 3-4 yrs old and didn't go on any trips that young.

Relax! The nursery staff have done this before, even if you haven't, and are well used to controlling all kinds of kids' behaviour.

Be rest assured they will be supervised all the time. The staff will have a child each if walking or 2/3 in a double or triple pushchair.
As a supply nursery assistant I have been out with groups with different ideas ie a walking rope or children with hi viz vests and holding hands with staff. I also found that children behave a lot better for nursery staff than they would do with parents yes I did have 3 of my own to contend with although that was many years ago old gimmer alert

My dd started nursery at 10 months they even used to go on little trips then....local pet shop....tea shop etc....

I was worried the first time but it just became part of her routine and she loved it.

She is four now and nursery recently took them on a bus to a local farm....

She hasn't stopped talking about the bus!!

Please be assured many of us have had exactly your concerns....

Yes - we have all been here. The first time my DD1's nursery class took a bus trip to a far away(ish) park I just couldn't concentrate the whole morning!!!

That was several years and many more trips ago. Also I have accompanied a number of the trips myself as in our nursery they often ask for parents volonteers. If you are worried - ask if you can come along. It is amazing how much better behaved the kids are with nursery staff!

As a side note - I'd consider phasing out reins and start teaching her basic walking rules - eg holding hands, not running, etc.

I am sure your dd will be fine with the staff at nursery.

As people have said above, it's something all the staff will have done before, with wrist loops, buggies and parent volunteers sometimes too. At preschool, ds went on a trip to Eureka! (Amazing children's discovery museum) which meant a bus from outside nursery to the train station; another train and a short walk. He loved it!

Thank you all for the reassurance, i'm sure it's always a worry no matter what age they are when someone else is looking after your children.

Tealady1983 Oh shock horror i use reins..
It's the backpack type of reins that she actually loves to wear.
