Jack & Jill School Twickenham

Hi there,

I'd really appreciate any thoughts / advice on Jack & Jill school in Twickenham / Hampton. We are thinking of sending our daughter there but we don't live on the doorstep and so haven't come across anyone with direct experience of the school.

Might be a bit of a late reply but I have had 2 DD through J & J and been very happy. It is a traditional school but with all the up to date advantages.Many do go on to LEH but that is not pushed- they work hard on matching the right school to each girl. This was great for us- one DD went onto LEH, the other to Surbiton and it was the right choice for both.
So many good schools in the area to choose from, you have to go and see which you feel is right. Good luck!

I heard a rumour that fewer girls from J&J are going on to LEH? Can you confirm if this is true, and if so is it due to the child/ parents' choice or LEH is accepting fewer J&J girls? Thanks.

Hi there. I asked around and it seems that it is roughly the same numbers give or take. Some parents from LEH say it has become more competitive to get in there. All I can say is, don't push your DD to go if she isn't suited to it. Listen to advice from your school- they usually steer you in a direction for a reason.

Our experience of J&J is very poor.. Here are the reasons.. There are far too many asian parents pushing their DD's against the kids desire and wish.. People are heavily tutored for Maths and English. Why pay private school fees and top it up with Tuition.. The final nail is that the head teacher and the system has now started recognising ( which means discriminating ) at the age of 6 and 7!!!! Phew.. Enough said.. We are glad its over..

I'm amazed at your comments ms247uk !! Sadly, parents choose to tutor at many schools and that is their choice. My DN is it J&J and I can say with confidence that this is not the case. Some are tutored but it goes against school recommendations. The girls have a great time and we are only sorry she can't stay longer. Perhaps you will enjoy the next school better ms247uk? Where is your DD off to next?

My DS is at TP and has friends with siblings at both NH and J&J. Tutoring is happening everywhere even though the schools do not recommend it. Some schools actively say they do not want pupils tutored but parents do it anyway. Give them more time to play! BTW I don't agree that the schools in this area condone tutoring- go and listen to the Heads talk. They often say the children work hard enough and don't need extra work.
