Are End of Pre School reports about to start reception ever anything other than glowing?

Er no, ds1's wasn't at all. In fact it was so bad it made his new teacher think he had a behavioural problem . It took a whole term for him to build a rapport with the new teacher and she later apologised to me for being so harsh on him at the start (she also explained that the report she had from pre-school didn't really reflect his behaviour at all). I never did speak to the pre-school leader about it as my daughter was still there at the time but now I'm wondering if I should try to get hold of a copy of both reports, just so that I can see what was written about ds1 and also prepare for any issues with dd's IYSWIM. Not sure how I would go about doing that without dropping ds1's reception teacher in it though.

Sorry for rambling reply, why do you ask HMC?

you could just say you're asking out of interest? If it makes them think twice about what they put in the reports, so much the better.

Bagpuss - that's awful

I was asking because I wanted to know how I should interpret dd's end of Pre School report which was thankfully quite complimentary. I was wondering if it was all meaningless platitudes, or whether I could be justly proud of her (...well I am proud of her any way, but you know what I mean)

Also surprised Bagpuss that you weren't automatically given a copy of the report. It seems very wrong that it was a private affair between Pre School teacher and Reception teacher!

Yes, I know. A whole year has now passed though and it seems silly to bring it up at this point. ds1's school report and parents' evening feedback was glowing by comparison to what his teacher said the report contained. We do get a sort of report thing when children leave the pre-school but ds1's didn't give me any concern at the time, then again, neither has dd's this time so perhaps I should be worried .

Sorry, again, didn't mean to hijack thread .
