Montessori - isn't everyone montessori these days

Wondering if montessori has been kicking around so long now and ha has so much influence that all the important bits have been incorporated into mainstream nurseries these days?
And any recommendations of good nurseries in e7,e11 ish?

In some ways- many pieces of equipment are inspired by the research & theories of Maria Montessori. Many puzzles, sorting trays, literacy resources have become quite common in use.

In terms of practice- those that are Montessori inspired usually advertise that fact. From a purist Montessori ethos there are many things that are quite distinctive and particular aspects that just wouldn't fit in with mainstream nurseries (attitudes to imaginative play, social development or creativity for example)

So some places are purist, others pick & choose what suits them, or just use the equipment. Every place will do that slightly differently- depending on the staff knowledge & resourcing.

As far as nursery recommendations- sorry can't help you there. I could help you with what to look for & ask if you tell me what your priorities are in terms of care & education.

Ds goes to montessori nursery and will e going to a Montessori school. One o te options we explored was gower in islington. It seems like a good nursery, but we decided not to go with it because we liked the feel of another one better.

DDs nursery owner was Montessori trained. I think they did a Montessori session once a day. (She only did one day a week).

What I do know is she loved that nursery far more than she did preschool and asked to do their holiday club until she was 8

I just read a couple of Montessori prospectuses and honestly cannot see the difference between what they talk about and how my child's nursery has been up to three.
