Hello everyone, just wanted some advice please. Ds nursery rooms are based on age so when they reach next age they move up a room. He has been at his nursery for 1 year only and have just been told that after half-term he is moving again. He has only been in his new room 6 weeks. This is his fourth room in a year. I wouldn't mind but he is really bad at going to nursery and trying to get him through the nursery door in the morning is always challenging.

So just wondering if I'm being an over-protective, worrying mum or if it is ok to feel really annoyed by this next room change. I would like him to be settled in a room for longer than a couple of months as he is only just 3.

That sounds like a lot of moves, no wonder he is so unsettled.
In my nursery (where I work) the children move just after their birthdays. So babies are in the baby room till they are 2. Then they are in the toddler room till they are 3 when they move to the pre-school room.
The ratios change for each age group- 1-3 for under 2s
1-4 for 2 year olds and 1-8 for over 3s.
This is great for the manager and working out staffing levels but not so good for the children.
Just ask them why he is moving so quickly again. See what they say.

this is definetly to many changes for any child. I would be questioning their policy. As it sounds like they are not puuting the children's interets first. What are the reasons behind the changes? I have never heard of a nursery that does this many changes. good luck

Hi LucyLui, I think there are class teacher shortages and now some of the nursery children are going up to FS2 they are merging classes. I wouldn't mind but he is being split up from his other friends who are all going into different rooms - the nursery has 4 rooms for his age group (large nursery!) Thank you for your help/advice.
