Nursery school or pre-school nursery?

Hi parents,

I really don't know what to do. My DD is due to start nursery in September. I have been offered places at both places I applied to.

  1. Nursery school: 4 classes of 30 children each, part-time (am) place. (She'll attend for just one academic year. Possibly not many children going from the nursery to the school she'll probably be going to)
  2. Pre-school nursery place attached to primary school that she will mostly likely end up going to: 1 class of 30 children, full-time place once settled in.

I really don't know what is best. I also have a DS at home and I work 2 days a week. ATM we have a nanny to look after both DC as this is actually cheaper than 2 nursery places (and we couldn't find a childminder). I think that my preferred option is PT place as this will be our last year together before 'proper' school, but that means I have to have still pay a nanny which is expensive if DD could be going to nursery for free! I don't like the idea of her going away for the whole day already, she has her whole school life to do that. But I don't know how to manage work if I don't have other childcare arrangements after 12pm when she finishes nursery. At the same time I also like the idea of continuity between nursery and reception, which she would have if she was at nursery attached to the primary school.

What should I do?!

(Sorry for long post, I've been back and forth on this for flipping ages. My DH can't handle hearing me vacillate any longer.)

Thanks for the help.

We are opting for preschool, less disruption for ds and generous ratio of adults to children.

2 - my DDs have been in both settings and I would choose the school everytime.

For lots of reasons, I could go on for ages about it.

Thanks ilovedjasondonovan, do you mind letting me know a couple of your reasons? Its exactly wisdom from people like you that I need! :)
