Ideas for play shop in playgroup

I didn't really know where to put this, so apologies if it's on the wrong board.

I help run a playgroup for babies, toddlers & preschoolers. We're not a money-making venture, but are run entirely by volunteers.

I've got the job of revamping the play shop. We currently have tables with (empty) boxes/packets of food/toiletries etc, a till with some money and some shopping baskets. We'd like to make it more interesting and 'shop-like', though. Any ideas?

Print some free signs and labels from this website and laminate?

I'm not saying don't use sparklebox - that is up to you - but at least be aware that it was created by a convicted paedophile. As far as I'm aware it is his family that continue to run the site. Whatever you do DO NOT POST ANY PHOTOS ANYWHERE ON THAT SITE or anywhere linked from it. Personally I don't go anywhere near it as it makes me feel unclean. It's sad 'cos the resources are great.

At ours we have had a flower shop with fake flowers and paper to wrap them in. The flowers were displayed in buckets do the customers could choose and then bring them to be wrapped.

A fish and chip shop with fish and chips cut out of sponges.

An ice cream shop with cardboard cones and those round net scrubby spongy type things for in the shower for the ice creams.
