School nursery and toilet training advice pls!

Not sure if I should post here, or in potty training section.... Anyway I need some opinions/ advice. I have a ds who is 3.2 I got a call yesterday asking if we would like him to join the school nursery now instead of waiting till sept, as they have space. This is great and I think emotionally ds is ready. He speaks well, is very sociable etc. our problem is that while he has been using the potty to wee, he has been terrible with pooing. He now had chronic constipation and is taking movicol laxatives. This can make him unpredictable and he generally soils himself. I don't know what the school nursery will say, but i realise i have to mention it. We could wait until sept , but I think in every other way he is ready and would enjoy 3 hours of playing and making friends. The constipation can take a while to go and for his colon to work properly on its own again, so he could still have issues in September. Anyone else had this? What did u do? The session is only 3 hours and he might not poo while there...but then again...any idea what the school will say? Should I just keep him at home till his problem is gone? TIA for advice / suggestions

I would talk direct to the school about it. The school nursery my elder 2 boys went to would take un-potty trained children and potty train them (where there was no medical problem), although a lot of other schools weren't happy about doing that so would call the parent to sort out soiled child.
As it is a medical issue I think most nurseries would be more inclined to help. DS3 was on medication that gave him diarhoea and his non-school-nursery were great at helping him potty train.

Talk to the school about it. I had similar concerns. DS was 3.5 when he started school nursery and was potty trained to the extent that he was out of diapers. But he could barely get himself dressed or wiped properly. They assured me that all kids (especially the boys) are in various stages of training, and they'd try to help as best they (legally) could. They can't wipe or change diapers, however. So be prepared to be called in....and do a lot of extra laundry.

If your son is anything like mine, he ended up working out a "schedule" in the beginning of the term where he'd poo right before leaving home. (I don't know how that'll pan out when he starts Reception in Sept but we've got gobs of time to work with it)

Thanks for the replies. I think we'll try and give it a go. I'm really hoping that he never needs to go in the afternoon! Maybe an unrealistic hope lol but we'll see. I'm hoping that as it is a medical matter, they won't be too fussed if it happens at school - thanks again
