Any preschool committee members out there?

Hi - have just signed up for the committee at preschool and have a couple of things I'd really like to pick other committees' brains on if possible. Is there already a thread for this? Would anyone like to join this one if not?
Thanks!

I just took over as chair of our preschool committee (although I'm not sure why sometimes). I've been on the committee for a couple of years now. Are there specific things you want to know, or do you just want to chat/rant about it! Smile

Hi there, I've been on ours a couple of years too, happy to put in my tuppence worth!

Ooh thank you! The big thing at the minute is we need to sort out the garden, for various drainage reason it gets very waterlogged and needs special flooring - but we'd also like to get it as good as possible for the kids. Apparently we need to use specially approved people to design and/or install any new equipment - do you know how to find these people? Or if there is a way around it? We are - obviously - not rolling in it so would like to do it as cheaply as possible. Any advice hugely appreciated - thank you!

Oh dear, not sure I'm going to be too much use here (I'm more about the fundraising!) I presume Ofsted would need to be happy with anything you did, and I also hear a lot of talk about the PLA (Preschool Learning Alliance) who are pretty helpful. I guess if there are going to be workmen in contact with the kids you'd have CRB issues, can the work be done during the holidays or totally separate and secure from the kids?

Nope, don't know anything about that. We have tarmac at our preschool and I haven't heard that it is wrong. In fact we are about to replace it, but will still get normal tarmac again. Maybe talk to your eyfsa to find out what you need to do.

If you are buying stuff remember to ask for their charity price, and also if they'll give you a discount in exchange for displaying a small ad. Obviously you don't want to be overrun by advertising, but a small plaque might be worth it. Just be cheeky and see what you can get.
