School placing appeals; are they worth it?

Hi. My 4 year old son is currently at nursery/reception, and as he seems quite happy there with lots of friends etc, we naturally put the same school down as our first choice for September. Unfortunately we didn't get a place there as it's over-subscribed, and I was wondering whether it's worthwhile appealing. Nothing wrong with the school they offered, it's not much further away, and I'm not aware of any maladministration or anything. TBH, I don't think we have any realistic chance of an appeal, but on the other hand I feel I should do whatever I can to at least try and keep him where he's happy. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Ta.

You'll get some great advice from the experts in primary eductaion if you post this there, but generally appeals will only be successful if a mistake has been made. Being on the waiting list is probably your best chance of getting into your preferred school. But at least you're happy with the school he's been placed at. Good luck!

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply, Mrs.B. I will re-post on the other board.
