Am I supposed to apply to more than one nursery??

My son turned three in December. His name is down for our local nursery, where he would be starting this December. Application forms haven't yet been sent out, but I'm now concerned that he may not get a place. Is this a possibility? I'm not really sure of how all of this works, but am worried that he may miss out.

Is it a school attached nursery that you want him to attend?

I think it varies in different areas, my DD will be 3 in June and would be due to start nursery in September. We applied months ago and have been told this week that she hasn't got a place despite having an older siling at the school. So yes definitly apply to more than one nursery, I don't think they send forms out, you just have to ask at reception.

Yes, it's attached to the school that I want him to attend. It's about a one minute walk from my house. Will that go in my favour? He is currently attending a pre-school, so I suppose he would just continue there if he didn't get a place at the nursery. So perhaps there's no need to apply to any more.
