My daugher's nursery, Latchford's Westy Sure Start Nursery is run by the local council and they are now closing it down due to Government budget cuts and cost savings they are looking to make.
I am trying to get parents together to challenge this and have met with the council and local councillors to understand the situation and try to reverse this decision.
The Nursery offers so much to the local area's youth and it's link with the local primary school and Sure Start Children's centre is so valuable. It even offers a Crèche for parents attending courses in the adjoined Sure Start centre.
Whilst the government has U-turned on the decision to scrap Sure Start centres, its budget cuts are being allowed to cause closures like this - which are being buried in local council decisions, where direct government action is causing this, but they are not being made accountable.
