How do you get to know the other parents if there is no set pick up time?

DD1 keeps telling me about her friends at nursery and asking if they can come to tea, but I never see the other parents- I think I pick up and drop off at unusual times.

How can I get in touch with said parents? Same goes for the parents of the baby class where DD2 is for two days- they have children of the same age and presumably live nearby, would be lovely to see what they are like, I don't know anyone who lives in walking distance with kids.

Why don't you have a halloween party for a few of them? Then you could have a little chat with the parents at your house?

Would I send invites in to nursery?

Yes, send in invites to nursery and ask them to give them out. Nurseries are used to this. If DD has mentioned a particular child you could also invite that child round to play. Bear in mind though that as this is a day nursery, parents may be at work during the day (and probably loathe to send their children without them at this age). We never managed to have friends round when DS was at day nursery for this reason.
