How likely is a power outage (not storm related)

Hello, first time poster in this topic. I’m in the UK, for context.

I have a feeling we’ve been gently forewarned of ‘something’ for several weeks - I first noticed the odd article in the media back in Aug/Sept so started prepping and had all the essentials by mid October, to the amusement of friends and family. More people seem to be taking notice now.

I know there’s always power cuts due to extreme weather, but how likely is it that something else will happen (like our supply running low/out, or being shut off by Putin/A N Other) and the government have been trying to let us know without causing widespread panic?

Looking at all the very useful supplies I have, I’m going to be disappointed if nothing happens 😆 (LIGHT HEARTED - I know the reality is it will be horrendous for many, many people if something does happen and will cause panic and anxiety for loads of families)

From what we know, its not likely. Lots of talk of rolling power cuts last year, but that didn't happen. We get power cuts from blown box thingies? Overhead lines coming down ( im rural) and rarely someone stripping cables but that was once or twice or maybe I misrember that.

We have a few every year. Normally dont last 24 hours.

Who knows.

Some of Putin's capabilities have been taken off line by kinetic sanctions. (Ukraine blew a bloody great big hole in the side of the data centre buildings) However, the hybrid warfare continues. "Trawlers" have marked out our off shore cables. Cyber attacks are a possibility.

Also infrastructure is old. Could trigger a problem.

Weather can knock out some generators. (Too hot for nuclear, too windy for wind, too still to turn the turbines) If it's cold, still and not sunny we could struggle.

Spain /Portugal had problems.

The south east here had problems over a wide area a few years back triggered by a couple of issues happening at the same time.

We are urban and have only had one short power cut in years. They used to be more common.
