Might - so they are not sure?

Less-well-defended - so why not defend them better… maybe they could use the same AI to defend against someone using the AI?

Preppers can barter skills, tools/equipment, and what is in their stores.

Fiat currency only means something because the govt forces you to pay tax with it. If govt breaks down, those pocket-sized portraits of Charlie and Lizzie ain't gonna be worth the polymer they are printed on.

Withdrawing lots of cash isn't safe either. One you need to hide it. Two you need to remember where you hid it!

Everytime I go to the coast I change up a few £20's for £1 coins. I find I either need the odd £1 for a shopig trolly or£45 for a takeaway. They are only places I need cash.

Try to get some small change I think. Or get a piggy bank and put all your loose change I after spending notes. But how much small change? It's impossible to be prepared fir every thing. I have about a weeks worth of cash for for and petrol and various change in my many, many handbags.

Bartering works when the person whose services you want, wants in return what you have to offer and you can agree an equal value. Cash is a transaction that bridges the gap.

But if society should collapse, it won't but...without a government to back cash its worthless paper/plastic . So precious metals are better option (and almost always appreciate in value)

My view is to actually have a sum of about £100 each of sterling, euros and us dollars. In small denominations. Dollars are useful for travel outside of Europe

We have enough cash to go and buy a lot of stuff very quickly if the power grid fell. i.e. before people realised that money would become worthless.
I’d be straight down the local caravan sales place getting a tow bar fitted and buying a trailer for a calor gas fire, bbq and other portable goodies.
Then after a couple of days I’d be towing a nice new caravan away 😉 Their flimsy chain link fence is no batch for bolt cutters.
