I’m sure as dedicated preppers, everyone who is able to, is working on their cold and flu etc supplies. We have probably all seen the headlines about shortages of lemsip etc and/ or perhaps noted gaps in what we want to buy from pharmacy/chemist.

Just to say our pharmacist had a couple of bottle of cough mixture in stock and that was it. He said that he could not order any at this time. He reckons suppliers are sitting on stocks to force the price up. He is not a man given to hyperbole!

I have managed to pick up some cough mixture of Amazon.

Just wanted to mention so that if anyone wasn’t yet fully aware of shortages in this area.

Ive ordered some more masks and Covid tests too.

I usually have a bottle of cough meds in as I get a bad cough every year and can't drive without it.

Still got COVID tests the kids brought home. We saved them for visiting mum and don't need it for that now.

I do need to sort out the bag of meds that was cleared and sent to a colder house last summer and has been under the stairs since it was sent back. I am just picking myself up after a bereavement so everything is on hold.

If you know you're likely to use it, and China is a major supplier, start buying one extra now. I've bought masks and paracetamol

Their covid wave might not be as bad as worst reports, but its certainly not as small as the official ones.

Interruptions to supply chains that originate in China could well be an issue over the coming months.

Thanks.

Was thinking about it earlier. Now there is a shortage, is not the time to be stocking up on things that are in short supply.

Possibly stock up on honey, which is soothing for tickly coughs. And other things that aren't in short supply. (Can't remember what it is you put in hot water to breathe in the steam to ease chesty coughs)

On the things that are in cough linctus too, in tablet form.

Fair points. Thanks.

Maybe if people can afford it, buy and freeze fresh ginger to use with lemon for colds? Ice lollies for sore throats. Maybe some lucozade. Maybe some rehydration drinks or cheap lemonade/ similiar that people can drink instead of rehydration drink. Ice cream good for sore throats.

is it Olbas oil you were thinking of @blackeyed? I swear by Vicks applied directly.

I tend to keep our first aid kit stocked up, but decided to get a couple of packs of paracetamol and ibuprofen earlier as DD suffers from painful periods. The assistant in Tescos told me they've now set their tills up so you can't buy two of each, only two items contained paracetamol, ibruprofen or aspirin - fair enough - that way hopefully most people can get someone for immediate use for a couple of days.
