Since Covid, news stories about unusual viral outbreaks make me anxious. Do other people feel this way?

Asking in preppers as can't see any other threads about recent outbreaks and thinking if anyone else is taking note of the news stories it will be the preppers!

I feel like there are 2 different new and unusual diseases which are more prevalent in the UK than other countries at present. But both of these illnesses have had low traffic on MN, is everyone just sick of talking about illnesses?

yep, feeling the same. I was ahead of the game with covid and had a fully stocked house and stayed at home with my children with no need to leave. I’m getting twitchy again. I’m so tired of all of this.

Mmmmmmm

What outbreaks are you talking about? The monkeypox?

Ahhh chill. We are gonna be nuked before anything else takes hold. Enjoy life and forget about it.

I no longer get my 'information' from the press, but straight from the mouth of world-class virologists. That does a lot to allay any worries and presents the facts correctly without hype or needless speculation.

If you want the lowdown on monkeypox (or indeed any other virus) I highly recommend listening to the following, all hosted by the wonderful Prof Vincent Racaniello who spends his time educating people re viruses after a long career (his specialism was poliovirus). This recent one with Dr Daniel Griffin is probably the simpest for a lay person to understand:

Monkeypox isn't 'new' by the way!

I heard that there is a nose bleed health issue in Iraq and something in North Korea. I think people are just hyper alert after all we have been through.

Yes, or you can just enjoy the health that you do have.
Honestly, no prep for Covid here at all, DH shopped, we stayed home. Minimum fuss, minimum worry!
Some things are not in your control, do a proper risk assessment and then just get on with life!
