I want to get a kettle that can be used on my gas hob or on my woodburner as a back up to my electric kettle and to make use of my woodburner in winter.

I'd like a decent one but I don't want to spend too much, does anyone have any recommendations?

I just went for second cheapest on Amazon. I actually had to use it last winter when we had a protracted power cut but the gas was still on - we have a hob. Just a kettle with a whistle like from my childhood.
It would take an age to boil up sitting on my wood burning stove.

Thank you. I was worried that the handles on the cheap ones might melt or get to hot - it was okay was it?

I recently opted for a le cruset one. My previous one started to corrode around the weld in the base and I decided I wanted a whole cast one (no seams or welds), had to whistle and was easy to clean and not require endless polishing like the old copper one. This was the only one I could find that met the criteria and I’m pretty sure I’m going to grow old with it.

We have this one though not sure what it would be like on a wood burner (not yet tried it on ours). It's got a good whistle and feels a sturdy kettle
