Mutual Support Group (coffee club) Northeast

It would seem that at least 3 of us are Northeast (England) based, is there any more?

I tend to hangout on another UK based prepper related forum where we have MSG set up, the idea being we can help each other if and when there is a problem (ok we occasionally meet up for a coffee, natter and to swap ideas, well mainly coffee to be honest).

This has got me thinking about running this Topic along the same lines. A dedicated place to share local finds or post warnings relevant to the Northeast.

Thoughts on this?

@K9medic2 I'd be delighted to take you up on that very kind offer if there's enough of us interested, thank you 🥰 and to contribute to room hire and plentiful caffeine too of course!

As far as I can tell we didn't lose power last night, it was very loud in the early hours when I finally got to bed (we're away this week, and packing always takes longer than I expect). I only had time for a quick check this morning 🤞

I know our power went off at 00:30 last night as the youngest munchkin kindly wandered into our room, brandishing his torch, grabbed his mothers shoulder and shouted "the powers off, but don't worry I have my torch if I need it" then wandered back to bed without a backwards glance.

Just checked the forecast for tomorrow, and if anything it could be a stronger wind than last night. I was planning a Scout night down on the Beach, but have cancelled and arranged a night in the hut instead.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but probably best if you double check your preps for a lose of power on Tuesday night, and kept time away from home to a minimal.

Stay safe

Hi all,

Sorry for the radio silence, I've had some very poorly little people with bugs on rotation at the same time as returning from mat leave.

Thank you so much for the kind offer @K9medic , I too would be thrilled to take you up on the offer if it's still open? I could not only potentially open up a venue but also not just a handful but likely a whole community who would be interested in this to the extent where not just tea, coffee and cake would be provided but potentially funding too if we all chip in. I can explore options and follow up with you if it sounds like something worth doing?

Your youngest munchkin sounds like the best!

Sorry that everyone has been feeling the chill. I've not been feeling 'wintery' but more just annoyed with the vast fluctuations in damp to mild to strong winds. Bugs are rife!

I've returned home from a few months away to find rodents so this is the next battle to distract my attention.

Hope you're all fit and well and full of pancakes in advance of dropping a vice or two.

Dontdoitdontdoit I sent you a PM about first aid training. the offer to take any form members through the basics of first aid free of charge is still open. If anyone is interested just PM me or leave a message here.

@K9medic2 yes please, I'd be delighted to do this ☺️

How's everyone getting on? It's been lovely to see the first signs of spring and breathe a sigh of relief that the hump of the year's gas bill is over for another year. MiniFool is gradually learning age-appropriate bushcraft skills, and I'm aiming to start the ham radio courses once I'm up to date with life admin - my focus this year is to develop our prepping skill sets and plans.

FoolShapeHeart · 10/05/2024 10:00

Morning, how's everyone doing? It's been a (non-prepping-related) stressful time here & I'm pulling myself back together to deal with the next few months (at least) being extra tight, financially speaking. It's lovely having a bit of summer weather for a change, but I've also just read the Guardian's report about how optimistic leading climate scientists are about the future (spoiler alert: very not optimistic).

There’s a big thunderstorm heading our way tonight (Sunday 12 May). I reckon about an hour out. https://www.lightningmaps.org/
