Recommend a wind up radio

Hi all,
I'm on the hunt for decent wind up radio in case the power goes / world goes entirely to pot so at least we can keep up to date with local broadcasts and important information. Looking on Amazon, I'm completely overwhelmed with all of the options - there's simple radios and then ones with all the bells and whistles which have lights and solar panels and even charge your phone!
Can anyone recommend from own experience please?

I bought the Duronic AM/FM radio from Amazon last week when it was on offer because we dont have a radio at home. It is rechargeable, has a wind up function, small solar panel and a light and alarm clock. It is very small but the sound quality is pretty good.

I also have the Duronic AM/FM radio. Nice and small so easy to carry around if need be.

Thanks for the info - have now ordered one

Thank you, I need one too. Don’t forget that you can still use your car radio, as long as battery is not completely flat. Nice to have a radio anyway for things like camping, days at the beach etc. if things ever go back to normal 🙃

Thank you very much for your recommendations. Would anyone happen to have a link? When I search on Amazon, the duronic doesn't come up

Get one with an mp3 function and put some audiobooks on an SD card, if you have wind up/solar you can use it as entertainment also.

ItsREDfive · 04/03/2022 17:53

I have the duronic too. I have ordered some faraday material to make a bag to keep radio, batteries, torch and other electrical stuff. The material was about £15 eBay

Is there a recommended station or frequency that will get broadcasted on with traction’s/updates if SHTF? Thinking I should probably write it down now whilst I can look it up!

GestationalDiabetes · 21/03/2022 01:33

We got an IGadgitz Xtra from amazon but they seem to be unavailable now. It cost £18 and works amazingly, clear and can charge normally or by being wound up too.

GestationalDiabetes · 21/03/2022 01:34

(It played happily from solar charging for hours today)

BBC Radio 4, according to this article.

ElectricFlower · 26/03/2022 18:47

I was thinking more about if there was a nuclear war, would there be a government radio station broadcasting saying where was safe/when you could come out of shelters etc. when I wouldn’t be able to Google if the internet and power was down

lightand · 29/03/2022 09:19

Who knows @ElectricFlower
I have become so sceptical lately, that I am not at all sure a government even cares.

chantico · 29/03/2022 09:22

There are several Duronics on Amazon

Would someone be kind and specify which they have? I was after a wind up/solar one, for use camping as well as emergency

LadyHelenaJustina · 29/03/2022 21:11

I have the igadgitz wind up/solar radio so I can use it in the garden. I also have a solar charger for my phone for the same reason - I can listen to audiobooks all day while I'm out.
