Sprouting!

I am very excited (probably unreasonably so) as I have just eaten my first batch of sprouts grown in a jar in my kitchen. There is no stopping me now so I am on the look out for recommendations. My first batch was Rose Radish seeds, a bit spicy but went lovely with ham for lunches. Does anyone have any recommendations. I’m planning on trying alfalfa and mung beans next.

Sorry for not responding to this sooner. Sprouts are yummy.
Well done

Well done! I love the feeling of eating something you've grown yourself. I've had good luck with salad leaves on windowsill before.

I’ve been thinking of doing this, what did you use to sprout them?

Hi Blue, I used a glass jar with am mesh lid (purchased) but have since watched various videos of people using plastic drink bottles so going to try that next. Currently sprouting mung beans. No need for soil, just soak beans overnight, drain, rinse, drain and leave in the jar. Rinse and drain twice a day and within a week you have sprouts ready to eat. My DH has now gone mad and brought me a whole load more beans to try. Moth beans next. Have a go, it’s good fun. Oh and my DS is learning to grow mushrooms too, so some interesting dinners on the way. X

Great, thanks. I’ll give it a go!! Sounds easy enough.
