How long out of BBE is really out of date?

Cream of chicken soup from August?
Tortilla wraps for Sept?
Fruit juice from Sept?
Peanut butter from Sept?
How far do you think can push the dates before it gets too gross to eat?

PNB and soup well into next year. Wraps (if long life to start!) and juice two or three extra months.

I would use all those ASAP, but I understand that most tinned stuff is fine way after the best before date.

I used to work in food packaging and BBE dates are ultra conservative. We once had cereal bars that were confirmed as fine for 8-10 years but we were only allowed to get say a year on the pack as the makers wanted people to bin them sooner and buy more.

This website is really helpful

If you put in basic words eg. chicken - it will give you a list of 'chicken options' to choose from eg everything from chicken stock cubes to opened tinned chicken.
