Freezer stuff for Xmas

Was going to add to the 'Christmas Thread' (started in mid July...' but the most recent contributions were about panty liners, so I backed away.....

So, I'll get a turkey crown soon, pigs in blankets, stuffing balls (how do you prevent freezer burn?); and I suppose frozen roasties.

When will Xmas puddings come into, say, Asda?

And why are people buying crackers for cheeses in July? Won't they be stale?

Where can you get 'cheap' Xmas crackers, now?

So many questions!

Most places seem to have started stocking Christmas puddings in store in the past couple of weeks so you could check online to see if they are available at Asda.
I've seen them on Tesco online for the past month.

I'd fast freeze then vacuum pack stuffing balls if I stored them.
If you vacuum seal before they are frozen they will squish out of shape.

If you look at the best before dates, most crackers sold now will have a bb date of 2021 on them so you can buy them early.
We eat crackers all year so we have them in anyway.
It's cheaper (if you eat a lot of crackers) to just buy packets of the ones you like rather than those selection boxes.
Look at the weights on the boxes, they really only contain the equivalent of a couple of packets.

We don't buy Christmas crackers so I haven't got a clue where you'd get those cheap.

I have got those things in the freezer. Turkey joint for emergencies if proper turkey not available! But have also got pigs in blankets and roasties and parsnips (again if fresh not available) I've also got crackers (BBE Feb 2021), quality street, twiglets, pringles, nuts, stuffing mix (for emergencies!), Tin custard (emergencies again!), orange and lemon slices, after eights and many bottles of shloer. Lots of baking supplies including mincemeat.Bought bottle of baileys yesterday because it was on offer - need to not drink it before xmas though! and chritmas crackers I got form amazon in sale in Jan.
Ive made my Christmas cake and have been lovingly feeding it!

I have a spare pudding that I made last Christmas! I am wondering whether it is still edible. Its been in a dark cupboard and hasn't been opened so I'm hoping it is ok. The one that we ate was really tasty, so I'm hoping it is. Loads of custard too.

Also have spare mincemeat from last year and jus-rol pastry in the freezer (I am crap at making pastry).

I bought s crackers selection box type thing last week (we eat them all year round) and it was BB Jan 2021.

No chocs or nuts here as I would never be able to keep them.

The Christmas aisles at the supermarkets have been filled for weeks. All the garden centres have decorations and crackers. Try Home Bargains for cheaper options.

Every year I buy a reduced price Christmas pudding (or three) in January. The use by day is usually around July. We eat one on the Sunday the clocks change in October, sometimes on 1st December and the other on Christmas day. I have been doing this for 20+ years and they always taste great.
