I moved out of London last year (which I’ve never been more happy about) but my mum and step dad still live there and I’m so worried about my mum in particular. She’s over 60 with bad asthma and is still having to go into work in central London every day because they have no ability to home work at her company. She always gets very ill when she gets a cold as it goes straight to her chest. She’s already been off work twice this winter. I go from feeling concerned to the occasional moments of panic.

I’ve sent them a digital thermometer and have been on at them for a while now to make sure they have food and meds in for if they have to self-isolate, which they’ve done but they’re on low income and living in a small place so I can’t imagine they have much in.

Now with rumours of a London lock down and knowing mum will still need to keep going into work I want to make sure she’s as ok as possible but I can’t think straight at the moment. I’m wondering if I should put an order in for them. Is there anything else I can do?

Just have a chat with her about what food she likes and what her preferred cold symptom alleviation things are. And hygiene stuff. Get a supermarket delivery for her.
Just call her regularly if she's not much for FaceTime etc.
Talk her through the online checker on 111.
