Sterilizing paper money

I'm in Azerbaijan so just waiting for the shot to hit the fan...

It occurred to me, is there a sensible way to clean paper money. Unlike the UK we don't have plastic money and all the ideas of putting paper money in the washing machine seem a bit impractical since you use it every day.

But I'm wondering if putting it in a sealed bag in the freezer would also do the job? It works for smelly shoes, but that's a bacteria problem I think.

according to google you can iron them on a high heat setting without steam to sterilize them

Yes, I saw that, but it can damage the security features apparently

Just spray it with sanitizers and let it dry

Just go cashless and use your bank card? That could be wiped with anti-bac spray if you're concerned.

Tbh I wouldn't worry about money when there are so many other things that get touched (doors, switches, windows, handrails etc). We can't disinfect the whole world.
