Preppers

In the UK, “keep calm and carry on” is being replaced by “worry and buy extra stuff.”

I thought this article might be of interest to fellow preppers. It erm mentions Mumsnet. 😁

I think that's an old article. I seem to remember reading it before.
Useful check lists though!

Meh, if it helps one more person act sensibly in good time, it's a good thing. I think most of us on here are the opposite of "stressed out" about it, though .

I spent yesterday clearing out the garage, moving some shelves around and shifting the 'stockpile' around. Then I made a list and put together a supermarket delivery for things that are missing.

When it's finished, there is nothing else I can do to protect my family in the face of no deal chaos. I can still do other stuff like leaflet, write to my MP and so on, but that has less impact on my mental health than knowing that we'll be 'alright' for a couple of months and will be able to ride out the immediate mess.

So, I'm not really that stressed out personally. I'm fucking angry that the government, of a democratically developed country has made me do this, and made me anxious for so long, but that's different to feeling stressed out.

I did this in March too, and the stockpile did brilliantly - we spent £10 on groceries a week for about 6 weeks - bread, milk, eggs and a few crunchy green veg. If there isn't chaos, then it's another load of cheap weeks ahead, if there is, then I've done the best I can.

Same here, for about 3 months. Definitely need to double toilet rolls though. 90 isnt enough.

I hand a serious hand injury a few months ago and lived on my stockpile for @ 12 weeks, until I was able to get out and about. I dipped into it again, when I was swamped with clients (I work from home) and to exhausted to bother shopping. It gives me since a brilliant sense of security, knowing I can live off it for a few months, even if the food isn’t terribly exciting. I’m rebuilding my stock and clearing out all readymade meals, so I can fill my freezers with frozen fruit and veg.

Those lists are great - really helpful link. Thanks to prep threads here I have lots of the essentials already but need to fill the gaps / replenish - and get more loo roll!

falcon5 · 21/08/2019 21:53

Can anyone make it clicky?
