Recommendations for lanterns

I’d like to get a lantern for power cuts - ideally one with solar and wind up charging options. Any recommendations?

If you are on a tight budget I strongly recommend getting a couple of head torches and using a couple of empty 4 pint plastic bottles - the opaque plastic ones for milk. Fill the empty bottles with water. Wrap the head torch on it with the lamp pointing inwards - much nicer ambient glow, particularly for kids and you can still carry it around and set it down.
I also have hurricane lamps which don't rely on electricity or battery power at all (eBay). Again Fuck Off Daily Mail I don't expect Brexit to lead to power problems but if this is a general thing, these are options to consider.

If wind up ones are what you fancy, my general rule of thumb is second cheapest/ good reviews on Amazon.

Thank you Bellini! We have a head torch, which gets used a surprising amount, so will test out your suggestion.

I did a "let's camp in your bedroom, dd " experiment- no electricity allowed.
Worked fine for us - I think we watched a movie on a tablet while eating sweets in a midnight- actually about 8.30 - feast) in case anyone thinks we were gnawing on branches, skinning rabbits or something ).

Plus don’t forget putting the light in front of a mirror (looks like a spooky seance but reflects light back in )

I have a wind up lantern from Mountain Warehouse: it’s quite a bit one and was about £14 so not cheap, but a short winding and I can sit in the garden and read my book well enough (and cheaper than getting an electrician to fit me an outside light!)

I've got a couple of these - cheap, work well, good light. They're not big but they do the job if you need them.

I think this is a great idea, because unlike all the other “prepping” hilarious nonsense you won’t be faced with the dilemma of when precisely to donate your soon to be out of date foodstuffs to the local food bank.

Er.....I didn’t say food banks were hilarious-I’m not Dominic Raaaaaab-but all this prepping nonsense is. British people are civilised and will react so to whatever trials the EU subject us to.
In the Blitz in 1940 Churchill was reduced to tears when on enquiring what a huge queue he’d seen was for was told it was for bird seed. So bombed out of their homes, dog tired Londoners were content to patiently queue to feed their budgerigars.
