Spent the last few months adding extra to each on line shop, plus stocking up on cheap tins/long life things from aldi.

We are lucky enough to have a woodburner and stove top kettle, so hot water and heating unlikely to be an issue, especially since we took delivery of 3 tonnes of wood earlier on this winter.

Looking good though imo. Can I come stay with you? Grin (don't tell people you've stocked up in other words)

SilverDoe · 02/02/2019 21:21

That’s an amazing list!

The only things I can think of are hot sauces/condiments, nice seasoning mixes (I prefer them in a pinch to single herbs), some dried fruit, hot dogs if you like them, and I’ve recently added to my list some tinned “meal” type things as a back up/quick fix - like tinned vegetable curry, tinned bilognese, tinned chilli etc

Snugglepumpkin · 02/02/2019 23:43

@anotherBadAvatar
suggestions:
How about mouthwash, dental floss & or picks, kids dental stuff (e.g. if you use disclosing tablets or kids mouthwash) herbs & spices, mustard powder (if you use it), peppercorns, honey, hot drinks for kids (drinking chocolate/Horlicks/peanut hottie sort of thing if they drink anything like that), dishwasher cleaner, contact lens wipes or cleaning solution, nappy bags, teething stuff (no idea on age of nappy wearing family member), nappy rash cream, infant Calpol, cough medicine, plasters, germoline etc..., Easter eggs if you get them (they are already in the shops), treats for kids or bits you put in lunch boxes if they have packed lunches (plus don't forget about the Easter holidays so you might want extra lunches) e.g. popcorn, sweets, coffee filters (if required for your ground coffee, drain cleaner, washing up gloves or descaler (if you live in a hard water area)?
Pretty good list even without additions btw & of course you are the only one who knows what your family eats/uses so you are always going to be the best judge.

bellinisurge · 03/02/2019 08:11

I agree with Snugglepumpkin about adding kids' treats if you have kids (or even if you don't Grin).
Looks fab.

NurseryFightClub · 03/02/2019 09:23

Suncream, last April was very sunny.

mum2jakie · 03/02/2019 13:12

Great list! Well done.

What about some condiments such as Nandos sauces? They can be used to coat vegetables or halloumi as well as chicken and can pep or soups or dips etc.

newprepper · 03/02/2019 15:52

God just saw this! Have started my own thread that shows my list as very poor in comparison!

Lots of great ideas guys thanks!

BlackeyedGruesome · 03/02/2019 15:59

washing up liquid
washing up gloves
dishcloths
sponges
washing up brush spare
hand cream

anotherBadAvatar · 06/02/2019 13:27

We have packs of Maldon Sea salt (MC prepper - me?!), as well as a cupboard full of spices/pepper/seasonings.

The thing that worries me most is milk. I've got 6x 1L UHT milk and a couple of tins of evaporated milk, but we can get through opts/day in this house! I don't want so much milk that it all goes out of date, but not enough that we can't cope for a few days.

I used to work in a supermarket during the petrol strikes. I remember how quickly UHT milk, yeast, flour and loo roll sold out!

YY to washing up liquid etc and getting some more Calpol etc in.

We have tons of factor 50 left from last summer. will it still be good?

OP posts:
anotherBadAvatar · 06/02/2019 13:30

Also - can I freeze cheddar as a block?

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 06/02/2019 13:31

As for milk, look at powdered. Full fat - Nido off Amazon (although this is MN evil Nestle) or Marvel which is skimmed milk. Or supermarket version of Marvel.

cloudtree · 06/02/2019 16:41

You can freeze cheddar as a block. Suncream will be fine but if you’re anxious they have bbe dates on them.

Fairenuff · 06/02/2019 17:13

What are you hoarding for?

BHStowel · 06/02/2019 17:26

Just be wary about your freezer ingredients in case there are power cuts.
