I read a thread on the net a while ago about meds that should be stockpiled.

There were loafs of Americans stockpiling fish antibiotics

Does anyone have a list of easily available, non-prescription UK meds?

A common sensible sort of list?

Many years ago my goldfish were prescribed tetracycline and I have been prescribed it too ( makes your urine go a strange colour, so don't panic if you ever have to give it a go), so it's safe for humans, but depends on infection and any resistance as to whether it would work.
I have also used antibiotic wound powder from the farm shop on an infected cut and it worked well!
Would be better than nothing at a pinch I think!

I think the trick is to not let the wounds get infected in the first place, Weeds.

I agree. Cozie. We all need to think about "what ifs " with infection particularly as, in a SHTF situation we might have less access to water. However, learning about wound care is also a good idea.Smile

I'm normally pretty hardy, but you get the occasional one that gets infected. Usually puncture wounds from thorns I find.

I just had a ripped nail that got infected. The problem is keeping things clean.

I wonder if the old travelling solution of Dettol in water instead of hand washing if you can't would work.
