There's no hope. Walk towards the blast. It'll be quicker.

Manumission · 09/11/2016 23:11

So, when it all kicks off you just turn up and knock?

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 10/11/2016 02:41

Walk towards the mushroom, just keep on walking.

NameChanger22 · 10/11/2016 13:30

There's a really good one, with beds etc, only a 10 minute bike ride from where we live. Good to know.

StStrattersOfMN · 15/11/2016 16:13

Good lord, there's one within walking distance, like 5 miles away Shock

BrieAndChilli · 15/11/2016 16:19

There is one literally over my back garden fence!! Well not quite as not sure exactly where in the army training ground the bunker is but we are right next to the training ground!!

StStrattersOfMN · 16/11/2016 12:51

Tried to find it today.

Failed.

Oh well, it's the mushroom cloud with everyone else :(

zombiesarecoming · 18/11/2016 22:00

There usually pretty well hidden Stratters

Most have a fairly modest bungalow hiding the entrance

The give away will probably be a communications mast somewhere close by as even though most bunkers have now been disposed of by the government the masts where left up on most of them

Which one are you looking for ?, may have a pic of it in my bunkers book or of a similar bunker type, depending on what it was for and how many it had to hold they had different structures on top of them

The main big bunkers all had bungalows on the entrance

The smaller communications bunkers had a much smaller shed type structure covering things

IEatCannibals · 18/11/2016 22:04

There's one a five min drive from my house. My dad had a key to it in the 80s. Wish he was still alive so I could ask him about it. I guess he was on the list of local people who may have some use following a nuclear bomb. I think if it had happened back then he was meant to leave me and my mum behind. Limited space, etc.

IEatCannibals · 18/11/2016 22:05

This one was a small one in a field, some sort of concrete structure visible above ground and the bunker below ground.

CreamCrackerundertheSettee · 18/11/2016 22:05

When I was at the 6th form (blimey 20 years ago!) it was disclosed that there was a nuclear bunker in our small market down, under the cinema. I was awalking past one day with my friends and the door was open so two friends went in for a look! There was a man in there clearing it out and gave my friends an impromptu tour.

IEatCannibals · 18/11/2016 22:08

found it

It's a ROC place, now welded shut so not much use.

CMOTDibbler · 18/11/2016 22:10

Loads round me, but theres a very nice (apparently) one behind a luxury hotel 5 miles away.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 18/11/2016 22:13

Mine is in the basement of my house! Grin

StStrattersOfMN · 18/11/2016 22:15

It's the Skendleby, Lincolnshire one, zombies. There's a sort of chalet bungalow on top of it, which was the guardhouse, apparently access is via a trapdoor inside.

witchofzog · 18/11/2016 22:15

Well I am fucked . Mushroom cloud for me

PatMullins · 18/11/2016 22:17

All the ones near me were demolished 20+ years ago.

Mushroom cloud it is.

zombiesarecoming · 18/11/2016 22:19

There was an roc outpost for sale a couple of months back somewhere in Norfolk, think it was about 20k although I am sure it sold, was too far away to be of any use to us otherwise I would probably have bought it

Instead I have just been dragging everyone around visiting the open ones up and down the country, quite fascinating the bigger ones, very much a case of officials looking after them selves and leaving the public to die though

PumpkinsOnTheMantlepiece · 18/11/2016 22:20

I can't see how to search as on my phone but marking place to find out later.

I did recently visit kelvin hatch -that was fascinating!

mylittlephoney · 18/11/2016 22:26

Bloody hell how many are their in Devon? I feel better now that if the button is pushed at least we will still have cream teas , pastys (don't get me started cornwall) and cider.

zombiesarecoming · 18/11/2016 22:29

Don't know if the attached photo is readable but that is the book entry for the bunker near you Stratters, no pics in the book unfortunately and it was sold in 1995 and is now privately owned

PseudoBadger · 20/11/2016 22:22
