What are you prepping for?

I have a stash of food for emergencies, eg, snowed in, swine flu quarantines us etc.

What are you prepping for?

But...zombies aren't actually real. Is this all hypothetical or do you all have bomb proof cellars full of tinned peaches?

winchester1 · 07/11/2015 20:58

Just preparing for things that might happen to your family (job loss, benefits cut etc) or in your local area (floods, fires),or national area (terrorist threats, flu pandemic).

Do you have water and cash (actual cash not in the bank)?

headexplodesbodyfreezes · 07/11/2015 20:58

Its basically an excuse for shopping and hoarding. What they are prepping for is an irrelevance AFAIK.

winchester1 · 07/11/2015 20:59

I'm not prepping for the za (zombie apocalypse).
No peaches here Grin

ClaireSW32 · 07/11/2015 21:00

No, probably less than £60 in the house. I'd be in trouble if it was a cash economy!

Madbengalmum · 07/11/2015 21:00

Okey,dokey!!!!

ClaireSW32 · 07/11/2015 21:01

I don't think I have room in my house for hoarding and prepping, not unless there is a clear and present danger!

OP posts:
gamerchick · 07/11/2015 21:02

It's bugger all to do with hoarding. Don't get the two mixed up!

headexplodesbodyfreezes · 07/11/2015 21:02

Surely you need a big tank in order to store enough water to actually be of any use?

Allalonenow · 07/11/2015 21:03

It's for when the Boy Scouts take over the country ~ you must have heard of "Be Prepared"?

Dib dib dib .....
Wine Cake .....

howtorebuild · 07/11/2015 21:03

I just have a few extra tins, a few bottles of water and long life milk in. Handy for bad weather or illness.

HemanOrSheRa · 07/11/2015 21:04

It's a name used for totally freaking me out.

Coconutty this made me laugh Grin. It freaks me out too.

ClaireSW32 · 07/11/2015 21:05

So what are preppers prepping for? Invasion? Nuclear bomb?

OP posts:
Madbengalmum · 07/11/2015 21:06

Zombie apocalypse apparently!

patterkiller · 07/11/2015 21:06

I'm daily taking myself and children to the local pond and sipping a small amount of green stagnant water to build up our immunity to the stuff.

TheoriginalLEM · 07/11/2015 21:07

I don't like it - please stop

winchester1 · 07/11/2015 21:08

As I said most are prepping for their most likely scenarios based on their family and where they live. 72hrs is the first aim and with bottle water and water purification tablets most people can store enough water and food.

We have a few tins of beans, some dry pasta and a sachet of lentils. I feel totally unprepared...

perrita · 07/11/2015 21:10

I know for me, my main concerns are financial problems (DH has own business, could have no work tomorrow, could break his leg and not be able to work, etc) and I want to be prepared in case of that mainly.

winchester1 · 07/11/2015 21:10

The UK has strikes, power cuts, rioting etc why is it so crazy to want be able to cope for a week or so without needing to go outside.

TheKitchenWitch · 07/11/2015 21:16

I am totally prepared if there is ever a crafting emergency of any kind, especially one that involves a national shortage of glitter.

headexplodesbodyfreezes · 07/11/2015 21:16

You could go outside during a strike or a power cut. And a riot would only be an issue if it was outside your front door.
